Bluebird Canyon Farms Intern Receives High Honor

2015-AhsleyBrownInternshipAugust 20, 2016  -Ashley Brown, a member of Girl Scout Troop 753, was awarded the Gold Award, the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts USA.   While an intern in Bluebird Canyon Farms’ Growing Skills Program during 2015 and 2016, Ashley learned various skills associated with organic farming and gardening.  The Growing Skills internship program provides candidates with opportunities to gain specific skills and competencies by experiencing the daily rhythm of the farm. Interns work independently and in group settings   Through her experiences at the farm Ashley was able to develop a set of informational brochures which outline how to plan, construct and operate an ecologically friendly garden that can improve resiliency while promoting efficient use of resources like water and energy. Copies of Ashley’s brochures will be available on the Bluebird Canyon Farms website and are also available at the Laguna Beach County Water District Offices.  Ashley is a member of Laguna Beach High School’s 2016 graduating class and will enroll as a freshman engineering student at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana this fall.  Contact us at bluebirdcanyonfarms@cox.net to learn more.
